So, driving home from work tonite, i noticed that my drivers side headlight was out. strange as i replaced them with Sylvania bulbs about 8 months ago. the high beam works, and so does the Daytime running light, but the low beam wont even switch on. my drivers side fog lamp was recently filled with water and it is also out, could it be affecting the headlamp? any thoughts on what to do????

its probly just the bulb dude, but really there could be lots of reasons. best is just replace it again, i know them Sylvania arent cheap.

sorry to jack your thread, but do you know how to take out the headlights?? ive got a 02 should be practicly the same

i agree with locopathfinder, judging by the symptoms, i'd put my money on the bulb. 99%

Which sylvania did you get? If it's the sylvania "silverstars", (or whatever its called in canada, about $20/bulb), then thats normal, they fail after 6 to 8 months of regular use. If it's any other sylvania, then that's a premature failure.

funny, i just had the same problem last night i went in to change the bulb... i started pulling on that rubber harness and like magic the bulb came back to life.... i tapped it a few times to make sure it wasnt a faulty filament and it stayed on for the rest of the night

Even though it looked like a bulb problem, this goes to show it could be anything... u check the fuse? Thanks

hah first u locate the fuse, behind the coin tray and there is a diagram printed on the back of the coin tray then u pull out the corresponding "drivers side low beam" fuse, and simply look at it. It is see-through colored plastic with a little piece of metal in it. If the metal is broken, the fuse has blown.

There should be a few extra fuses in there too.

OK, So i found the fuse box under the hood and checked the headlight ones and they were fine.. although i did locate the source of one of my failed power outlets. but you said it's under the coin box right? i looked there and did not find anything about headlights!

i had this problem aswell but it went away when i bought new headlamps.

my passenger side would go out then i would knock on the housing and it would turn on again.

after a while the knocking stopped working so i went to check it out and apparently everytime i angled the bulb upwards it worked.

very strange i dont like these double filament bulbs too much
