I have auto leveling headlights on my M45 premium, and have absolutely handled this with the very simple adjustment mentioned above. For that matter, many many owners have done the same, all totally satisfied. Believe me it's a done deal.

You can find some pictures and more info here. Make sure you read through the thread and read the later posts, very clearly describing the use of the phillips head screw driver.

Thanks for the link. This sounds like it'll be incredibly easy to do. Unfortunately, it sounds as if doing this will make my high beams point ridiculously high since they're linked to the low beams. But from what everyone's saying, they don't even need to use their high beams after adjusting the lows. And it doesn't sound like other drivers are bothered by them...which is very important to me. If I have time tonight I'll be doing this.

The high beams do go up with this adjustment, and they do end up somewhat high. However, they are still effective at illuminating the on coming area (if not always the road itself), and everyone seems to agree that it's not a problem. (Of course we never use those when approaching on-coming traffic, so that part's not an issue.)

One more note. You want your driver's side beam somewhat lower than your passenger side beam. That's how they come from the factory. The idea is that you're trying to balance the desire for maximum lighting and the need to protect the vision of on coming drivers. (Who are less affected by the passenger side beam.)

Now that I'm happy with my lights, I've yet to get a flash from on-coming drivers, so I feel confident that all is good.

Adjusted the lights today. 4 full revolutions. The difference is night and day, and although I kept thinking other drivers would start flashing me, they didn't. Although the problem is "solved" I can't help feel that it's just a band aid, and not a true fix. The high beams literally light up the tops of telephone poles now, but I won't say they're totally useless...they work well on hilly roads.

I will be calling my dealership to lodge a complaint and voice my concern. Don't know if it will help. If I could have my cake and eat it too, I would want independently adjustable low/high beams.

Thanks for all the info everyone!!!!

May be bringing this back from the dead, but just ordered a 07 M35x base and was wondering what is the standard equipment headlight? Are they Hid low and halogen high, or halogen low and high.

Thanks.
