The passenger headlight is out. The headlight was replaced by dealership and that didn't solve the problem. They said a new ballast was needed. The ballast and light bulb has been replaced but the headlight still doesn't work.

Please help!!!

It's not clear if the dealer also replaced the ballast. If so, take it back and tell them you expect them to correct the problem since you've paid them twice.

The dealership did not replace the ballast, we used a local car technician who was half the price. So I was hoping to get an idea of other solutions before taking back to the dealership and shelling out a lot of money.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to NICO

Unfortunately in this world you get what you pay for.

My previous vehicle was a 92 Lexus

I took it to the dealer for the same problem you are having

The dealer replaced the headlight bulb with a new bulb that happend to be defective

They did not have another bulb in stock so they took a used bulb out of a vehicle that had been in a wreck.

No charge for the whole episode.

Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

My advise, go back to the dealer and let them fix the problem

Good luck

Good luck with it; I second Telco's recommendation. You may be stuck with an undesirable outcome: the dealer is not accountable for the third party's work, and since you probably just told the other mechanic to replace the ballast, he's not accountable for the solution unless you can show that his ballast is defective. If you did have him troubleshoot and make his own recommendation, you should take it back to _him_.

One of the items that I purchase with a new vehicle is the factory FSM. Although it is available on this site as well as CD's from InfinitiI prefer the paper version. The 2006 Sedan version is 4 huge volumes that probably weighs over 25 lbs.
I can put sticky notes in various sections for later reference.

flamingoparty
Search for your FSM on this site and go to section LT
Read the entire section
In reading the section for my 2006, the first precaution mentioned is to disconnect the negative battery terminal and never work with wet hands or touch the bulb
The system is quite complex and includes a headlamp low relay, a headlamp high relay, a 10a fuse as well as circuit flow thru the BCM
If you don't have the manual and a meter it is probably wise to let a dealer tech who has had factory training in troubleshooting complex electrical problems handle this for you.

Need to give the local guy another shot before taking it back to the dealership.
