I'm helping my son out with his 2001 i30t. The passenger side headlight lens is broken and needs replacing... problem I'm sure you're guessing is that it's an HID and there are budgetary constraints in place (ie the cost of even the aftermarket replacements I've been able to find is prohibitive). From what I can tell, it'd be a lot less expensive to convert both lights to halogen than to replace the one HID... especially since we'll probably wind up replacing both "so they'll match." Any help out there for me, re parts sources, things I need to be aware of, etc? Anyone got a less expensive option/idea?

Thanks in advance for your expertise

Scott

I think the 2001 are halogen. the 2002 were HID's You can get the HID look with halogen with the color difference. As for the cracked lens, i'd suggest ebay. Just go there and type in 2001 i30 headlight lens. You can get some good ones on there for cheap.

I have an 01t and mine had halogens...perhaps it was an option back then?

You could get the non-HID lenses (if there is even a difference) and pick up some 3rd party HIDs. I put in my HIDs that I got from DDM Tunning (http://www.ddmtuning.com). I originally bought them for my 97 regal. They fit in my 06 Grand Prix, and now my 01 i30 as well. They work great and I can't imagine having another car without them ever again.
