Headlight Motor Question

My s13 driver's side headlight fell down about a month ago gradually and I have had it bolted up until today when I finally bought a new motor for it. Before replacing the motor I was wondering if anyone had any reccomendations or tips. Also, my passenger side still has the ability to go up and down but picks and chooses when it wants to work. Also, the drivers side lamp began not working as soon as I unbolted the headlight to remove the motor. Thanks in advance for your help!

Check the ground wire or just check the harness. Sounds like it might just be shorting out sometimes.
