Hello all,

I will taking my M to these guys, http://www.customlightz.com for my headlight mod.

They did an awesome job on my last car retrofitting FX35 Projectors into my Maxima's Headlights.

Here is what I have planned.

As some of you know, I lowered my car with Eibach springs and the front end sits lower than the rear. This has caused the headlight cutoff of the projector to only beam light not more than 8 feet in front of me. I have already adjusted the headlight to it's maximum height and still no dice.

1. Custom lightz will take apart the headlight and install washers to raise the projectors 3-7 degrees to compensate. 2. IF that does not work, he will retrofit TSX projectors (same size as the M Projectors in the car and be able to keep the Adaptive Headlights) 3. Either mod above, I will have them cover the hole in the projector that lets light escape to illuminate the shroud around our projector housing. They will then install CCFL kit on that will emit a pure white ring around the projector like on BMW's. 4. They will also swap the lense on the projector to create a sharper cutoff and color mod. 5. Next will be the fogs. Retrofit either the blazer or IS300 projector into the fogs and replace glass with lexan glass. HID 3000k will also be installed. <--- picture will give you an idea. We will more than likely black out the housing as well to match the car.

Questions I have or seeking opinions is should I also have the chrome parts in the headlights blacked out to match the car? I did this in my maxima and it looked awesome. I did have a black grill on the max so I don't know. Problem I see is that the high beam reflector can't be painted so it will stick out like a sore thumb. I may retrofit projectors there too..

What do you think?

The pic below is a Nissan Titan that they did with Blue CCFL but I am going with white since I do not want to get pulled over.

Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks,Man

looks like a good mod

maybe some pix of the car itself for comparison

also, the lowering of the springs is 1.6 in the front...did that much of a drop affect the headlights that much because I am about to drop mine to a similar drop....I'm wondering if others have encountered your problem as well

I don't think you will have the same problem as I did due to you owning a M35 and I own a M45. The weight difference of the engine is what cause my M's front to lower more than the rear. It was enough to make the headlights aim down about 15 - 20 degrees if not more on the driver's side and maybe 5-10 degrees on the passenger side even at maximum height adjustments. My highbeams hit the trees. It sucks and it dangerous so I am getting the headlight mod instead of spending $2200 on Coilovers to get the drop even. I like the drop, 1 finger gap in the front and 1.5 finger gap in the back.

Crappy thing is that now, when I am driving across intersections, I cannot see the other side until I am at least 1/3 or 1/2 of the way into it.

I have asked across the board but it seems that there are a lot of M35 on Eibach with no problems. M45 owners are on the Epsilar springs or coils and don't have the problem either.

I am at a loss, but it will be money well spent and make the M a bit more unique than other's out there.

I only plan to do a few mods to the M since my last car had everything I could get on it. It was a money pit and I only sold it for $6000.00.

Things I plan to do or have done are:

Nav Hack (Done)Lower (Done) Possibly to JICs laterTint (In the Spring)Headlight Retrofit (Schedule for 18th, 19th of this month)Foglight Retrofit (Scheduled for 18th, 19th of this month)Shift Mod (Will do soon)

If someone ever comes out with a Ypipe for our car, I will also do that. Other than that, I want to keep her as quiet as possible. Too many cops in VA that find any reason to pull you over.

In my supercharged Max, I was pulled over at least 2-3 times a week for:

-No front tag-Exhaust-Suspension-Tint

All none moving violations but after I added up all the tickets I paid, I could have bought my M sooner!

Just heard back from Bjorn at customlightz.com and one of his installers just added CCFL to an M45 headlight and it looks hot since we have a transparent front bezel. I am excited. Parts are ordered. I will post pics as soon as I have everything installed.

The pics will also be hosted on http://www.customlightz.com once they finish.

I like that you are doing custom work to your car, but in my opinion the CCFL rings belong on BMW's.

Thank you for the input. Since I have the headlights opened up, I might as well try something different.

I am also fighting the urge to get the Element 114 exhaust since I don't think a luxury car should have a loud exhaust at all. I still want it for the extra power and awesome exhaust sound it makes. I want to keep her relatively quiet for road trips with my fiance and still have a quiet cabin compared to what I had before.

98 supercharged Max with full 3" exhaust was not a good road trip car. It was loud as snot and that is why I chose the M.
