headlight lens removal

I was wondering if anyone knew how to separate the headlight housing and the lens? I looked on the forum but couldn't find anything related (maybe i'm just blind) but could someone please help

depends on what year. If your 240 has flip up head lights then the lights will be a sealed beam.Unless they are aftermarket diamond cut convertion from sealed to none sealed head light.

If you have the flip up head lights then you will have to take out two screws that are on each side of the flip up head light. The piece of plastic should come right off. Then there will be 4 more screws that are around the sealed beam head light.(2 on top and 2 on bottom) The piece of metal should come right off after doing that.Then the light comes out and just repeat the steps for the other side. Then just do the steps backwords when putting the head light back together.I hope I was some type of help.

Thanks for the reply. Its a '96 and i had to heat it... melted off some minor parts off while i was in there. (not on purpose)

To get the lens off the housing, you will need to "cook" your headlights.

Remove any lightbulbs, harnesses, etc.

Preheat oven to about 250 degrees (I'm pretty sure it was only 250 degrees, just enough to melt the glue)

Then let the lights sit in there for about 5-10 minutes (if I remember correctly)

After that, you take them out and you can start prying the edges off. Be careful because you can damage teh lens. This method (used for retrofitting) should retain the most goo.

Install is reverse.

It's often easier/better to just buy new lights, haha.
