hello i just bought a 1990 240sx s13... my issue is that the light switch on the steering column that is supposed to flip up the lights and turn them on... only turns them on... so i have to push the button to flip them on and then turn them on on the column... i was wondering if there is a seprate relay system for the 2 switches... its not that big of a problem... its just annoying... thanks in advance...

that doesn't sound right w/ your system...

i think the previous owner tried to do one of the many ways of a mod called "sleepy eyes"

------------------

when i turn on my headlights using the column switch stalk... the headlights pop up& when i turn the lights fully off, they go back down

the headlight button on the dash is for keeping the headlights UP during the winter months so you won't have frozen shut headlight eye lids when you need to drive in the winter...

------------------

so yea, check to see if there were signs of doing that "sleepy eye mod"

Hey Vincent, mine also does this... My car however used to be able to lift the eyes and turn on the lights using the stalk...

Must be a relay... I haven't found it... too lazy to look in the manual + our weather never gets so cold, so not a real issue...

I think it could be the wiring in the stalk that has two seperate signals for lights on and up and the one is maybe "dry" or not making contact...

You can perhaps remove the stalk and clean the connections... which also sometimes fixup rear tail light and dash light issues.

i was talking to my dad about it and he was thinking that both buttons should run the same relay to lift the lights and that it might me in the stalk like you say... right now im trying to get the car running... no compression in any of the cylinders... =[... but then ill take the stalk off and spray the contacts and see if that fixes... and thanks for the help... ill also look in the manual and see if i can see whats up there... lol... thanks again..
