Hello and Father's to myself and others out there

My left headlight (the one by the battery) has a intermitting functional problems. 95% of the time it doesn't work and I get the 'headlump not functioning' message on the diagnosis display.

Lamp checked and seems to be in working condition when exchanged with the other side (other headlamp)

Yes I have checked the fuse.

If the answer is going to be the headlight relay, please tell me how to remove it? Does the entire fuse box have to be removed to gain access to it?

Thanks a bunch

It sure sounds like the relay... pretty rare on the Q, but I have heard of it before. Very common on the J30.

Unfortunately I don't have experience with the r&r...

I had a strange headlight problem on my J30T. When troubleshooting everything would check good but one light would work sometimes, sometimes it wouldn't. It turned out to be an intermittent light bulb. The filament looked good and it wasn't open when checked with an ohmmeter. However when installed in the socket sometimes it would light, sometimes it wouldn't. A new bulb solved the problem.

Thanks for the input, but I tried everything. Also, the "job" that was done on my passeger's side foglight fell apart and exposed the wires...grrrr. It shorted the relay FOR SURE!!

The fuse box doesn't need to be removed but IIRC the battery will need to be pushed aside (remove the hold down) and the radiator overflow bottle will need to be unbolted.

Manned up, soldered it myself and I am terrible with a solder, burnt the board, but got er done! There was a huge burnt solder; it burnt the white wiring harness on top, it was easy to figure out. Now I just have to figure out my "stop lamp inoperative." I grew a huge set of gonads are took the cover off of the sensor. But I saw nothing burnt?? What should I be looking for there, solder lumps or something? It seemed like a few silver lumps were not there. I'd probably be riding a freakin bike if it were not for you all. lol I've searched this one, been through the system several times. Some of the wires are taped by the taillights, but they work. Any suggestions/pictures??

bear in mind some of the sockets are melted a little, ya know, where the bulbs connect, but they work. Is there any way to complete said connection, ghetto style??? I will show a pic of her, down and dirty, washed in the rain, dried with a leaf blower and finished with a cali dust brush (the priceless princess). Who needs an 8 dollar car wash??

The stop lamp inoperative message is either wrong bulbs (use Sylvannia LL), melted contacts in the bulb or socket, burnt wiring, or a bad brake lamp sensor (under the trunk lock). Just a small amount of melting of the lead contacts will change the resistance in the circuit and set off the sensor, even though the brake lights are still working. I'm a newb at soldering but was able to repair a brake lamp sensor, after spending $90 on a new one , by resoldering the 4 pins where they contact the board. It seems like the ground circuit on more than a few sensors in the Q have problems with melted solder joints.

Ran through the system for the 20th time. One of the bulbs in my rear deck light went out and that god forsaken error message has been there ever since (about a year). I searched the topic back then, I am using those bulbs and I do not see anything wrong with the sensor. Could you tell it was bad just by looking at it.

By the way, the CARS program is not gonna take her, she is too fine. I am still waiting to get her clean before I post another pic.....
