Whats the difference between the Halogen (standard) headlight housing and the Xenon for the 2010 sedan?

I want to put stock(OEM) ballasts/wiring/HID bulbs on my halogen housings (my aftermarket kit i had on died within a yr so time for upgrade)... ive seen a xenon housing and a standard...but i dont see any difference...
ive googled this..but havent quite found a straight answer.

I had the HID aftermarket kit on it (plug N play h11 8K)..with no issues until today when one died. Ugh. Havent had any glare problems or anything...no aiming issues...no shaking/flickering either

I'm not sure if OEM HIDs were offered in the halogen headlight housing, or just with the projector headlights. If it's the latter, then you won't be able to because the projectors use a different size bulb than the halogens do.

The reflector bowls are patterned differently in the xenon housings. They look the same until you get up close. The xenon bowls are textured in such a way that it creates a cut-off (not as sharp as projectors but still noticeable) and helps reduce the glare.

Why not try troubleshooting to see which of the HID kit's components is the culprit? I highly doubt that all of the components in the kit failed on you. It could be a bulb or a ballast issue. Swap your bulbs left/right and see if the problem carries over. Are you using a relay harness and powering from your battery or do you just have it plugged into your OEM harness? Could it be a loose connection? Are any of the connectors corroded?

Changing to an OEM HID set up will mean you have to either retrofit your existing headlights or seek out a pair of OEM HID Altima headlights. Either choice will be quite expensive and will require modification.

I would personally just try fixing the issue. Is the HID kit under warranty? Where did you get it from?

And to answer your original question a Xenon headlight housing will typically have a projector lens and will take a D2 style bulb. The regular housing will be a reflector housing and it takes an H11 bulb on lows.

Best of luck.

How would you know if you don't have glare problems. You're driving the car! I can guarantee that you do. Using after market HID kit in a halogen reflector bowl scatters the light pattern onto on coming traffic. I can always tell when a car is coming towards me and they have after market HIDs cause they blind the heck out of me and I'me sure I'm not the only one.
