G'Day all!
Heres the thing. 94 D21 VG30E Se model. Headlights have been somewhat dim. Not bad but not great. Have meant to change out with new ones, so driving in the dark yesterday morning, I flicked lights from high beams to low beams, and driver side went out. Bought a set of Halogen sealed beams and put them in. Done! Started truck this morning flicked on high beams, and all good! for about 5 minutes, and it went out, moved back to low beams and all good, for about 5 minutes, and it went out. Passenger side still ok with high and low. Any thoughts on possible issue, and where to look? Any help would be greatly apppreciated. Thanks!

Did not really look bad when changing out lights, but reallly wasnt looking too hard, I just figured I had a burnt one so put in two new ones. Am I safe to assume that if I have one working and one not, it is likely a wiring issue on that light only? maybe a dirty connector?
Yesterday was not bad out. Today is freezing here! Will try to have a look later today see if anything jumps out at me. I just dont want it to be some expensive relay, or control unit or whatever. Freaks me out the high beam worked for a couple minutes and the low worked for 30 seconds.

Did you just replace bulbs? Halogen bulbs are sensitive to oils...you should never touch the glass portion of them when installing...oils from the skin on your hands often causes them to fail.

Two things, it is possible you have a problem with the wiring and if you follow it closely you might find it has a break causing it to short. Or, you might have touched the bulbs during installation, in which case you have to get new ones fitted.

Might be worthwhile to take a look at the switch stalk. Inside can get burnt and cause bad connection. That's how I fixed my passenger High not working all the time. Just pull it apart careful like, and use some sand paper to clean it up, just like a set of points.

Ten minutes cleaning that can be nicer than buying more bulbs. You really should use clean gloves when handling those things, like the people above said. Oil can kill them easy.
