I have a 93' infiniti j30 and it is the best car I have ever owned. It is having some kind of electrical issue and I am clueless. I bought the car from my parents, it was to old for them and they let it sit. They had many problems with the headlights not wanting to stay on while they were driving. So when I got the car I replaced the headlight relay as everyone does. When I did that I turned the lights on and when I am suppost to just have low beams on, all 4 come on, I have no working tail lights and parking brake doesn't work. I checked the ground under the air filter. ANY HELP WOULD BE NICE. ILL TRY ANYTHING!!! THANKS GUYS!

Have you checked the fuse?

Are all the bulbs your running the proper wattage? high wattage bulbs cause all sorts of problems.

Hey! thats for replying..now, There is no regular 10 15 20 amp fuses in that fuse box (the one that controls the radio, sunroof, ect....) there are those big bulky box fuses, I don't know anything about those things, because there relays and fuses in one I believe, but if it were a fuse or relay wouldn't my headlights not come on? I mean why are 4 headlights coming on when I just want to. WHAT CONTROLS THAT!!!!!!! LOL....THANKS GUYS!

Well, I figured it out, If all four of your headlights come on when only two are suppost, in a j30......check the TAILLIGHT fuse.....I don't understand who made the wiring chart for this car.....makes no since....when it comes down to it....if you have a problem with the headlights.....replace the relay...that fixes everything!!! everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you have a short/corrosion in the stalk switch which drives the light relays.

Sounds like your problem is fixed, if you have more trouble with head lights then switch your headlight relay out. Mine use to go on and off, sometimes just one sometimes both!On the highway!! a site called fuzzycats.com has good explanation and pictures, check it out.

hi there, I'm having headlight problems also, j30 1994, of the 3 lights right front side, only 1 works, and the other 2 do not work. I went to get it inspected and the guy there told me it might be the electrical system...??? So, if it entails replacing the relay like you said, is that something which I could possibly do by myself (female, not too mechanically inclined!), or if I have to take it to someone to do, is it expensive???

Can I do it myself i.e. do I go to a car parts place like O'Reilly's or Autozone and ask for a relay box for my model and make? Then what do I do?? Do I take out the old one (where do I find it?) and just replace it with the new one??? Sorry, but I am not too swift in this area. Thanks for all of your help!

Yes you can do it your self. I promise that is what it is too. You need to go to the infiniti service department or call and order from the closest location. The box ranges from $55 to $75. I paid $75, im from North Louisiana. You open your hood. Go to the very right back corner. There is a cubby hole there. There is a block box with a metal bracket on it. There are 3 nuts, I believe off the top of my head they are 10mm. take the bracket off and unplug the 2 plugs. replace, and put it back to gather. Just for saftly of your investment and time, make sure the positive battery cable is unpluged, or atleast make sure all your lights are off. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU DO!!!
