I bought new performance headlight bulbs, but couldn't get the factory bulbs out. There is a rubber seal and it is impossible to turn the base in neither direction.I wonder if there are any screws or something.I order the service repair manual CD(on ebay), but the disc came in defective(I'll get it in a week). In a meantime if someone has done it, please help.If the topic goes nowhere I'll post instruction how to do it once I receive the 2'nd CD.

there is no turning involve.

You pull off the rubber seals. then inside are clip holding in the bulb from top and bottom. unclip those the bulbs come right out.

Are performance bulbs all that much better than regular ones?

I love my Silverstar Ultras, but I had to convince myself that I really wanted to spend that much money on headlights. They're nowhere near as nice as HID, despite what their marketing will have you believe, but they're a nice upgrade over stock, with a cleaner, whiter light and better coverage.

i agree, PIAA are one of the best. but after you pay the price. It was more worth it to invest in HID.

but then agan the PnP setup isnt the best either. i would love to do a retro fit, but without access to another setup of Headlights, that isnt possible

The going through the owners manual it says the V's bulb are H4's. I thought H4's were only for Europe. Shouldn't the bulb be 9003 for NA?

According to the bulb manufactures, 9003 and H4 are interchangeable

Thanks. I did some digging and it looks like the DOT says you can't use H4's over here. Only in motorcycles and off road vehicles. Other street vehicles need 9003. From what I see the H4 filament is wound slightly tighter which makes it slightly brighter. I don't know how true this is. I just read this on other message boards.
