Here is an excellent guide to properly aiming headlights.http://www.danielsternlighting....html

It appears at first to be complicated, but isn't really that difficult.Note that G50 and F50 use US DOT "VOL" beam patterns on low beam. Not sure about FGY33, but I suspect they are the same. Simple pointing the car at a nearby wall from a close distance will reveal a pattern with a sharp top cutoff and perhaps 25 degree kickup to the right as shown in the illustrations. That's a "VOL" pattern, which Q45's have.

Correct headlight aiming is essential, especially if you have brighter than stock bulbs, as I always do.

Note further that F50 aiming is limited. No horizontal adjustment is possible but they can be adjusted vertically. It's just tough to find the adjustment screws. G50 can be adjusted in both axes, and the adjusting screws are accessible after removing the black plastic covers over the top of the headlight under the hood. (Don't lose the little clips that hold the covers on)

BTW, Daniel Stern is an excellent source for improved bulbs for your Q. You'll get better bulbs that actually work rather than ones that seem to work because they put out bluer light or seem brighter but aren't really. He really knows his stuff when it comes to automotive lighting. He will answer questions too. Visit his web site. And no, I have absolutely no connection with him other than being a completely satisfied customer.

Daniel Stern suggests using "Candlepower" as a source for HIR1 and HIR2 bulbs. Here's a link for them:http://store.candlepower.com/hirlighting.html

Use the menu at the left for other higher output bulbs, including instrumentand fog lights.

Yes, I know for sure the G50 and F50 have the much better European design. Not sure about the FGY33, but I suspect it does as well. My wife's new 2008 Honda Civic EX-L coupe has the American style, and it really shows a difference. I don't like it anywhere near as well, as it doesn't throw anywhere near as much light further ahead on the right.

Even better yet is the low beams on my '05 F50, where that right side light kickup operates, are the 7 barrel HID lights that are the brightest in the business. Absolutely GREAT lighting on low beams.

Thank you Nissan for giving us a superior headlight system on our Q45s, then, and now.

Had to replace ours on the 1970 CSa with Cibié halogen to bring them to European standards.
