Daryl,

With the coupes and sedans the easiest way to get the smoked look is with the overlays you've been reading about.

The smoking method involves removing the headlight enclosures and breaking them apart at their seams with either a heat gun or some other device to pry them apart. Smoking is achieved by basically painting the interior of the headlight clear portion with an opaque black paint (or similar application usually using a spraying device).

In some states there are laws against any obstruction of the main lighting area (Headlights and High Beams), therefore a spray smoking technique would not pass the legal test unless you taped the coverage area. Overlays can be cut to meet this requirement.

There may be other smoking techniques, but I'm not aware of them.

Hope this helps, -- Wind
