headlight adjustment & tire sizes

Happy turkey day! Hope you all had a good one! While driving home tonight, I noticed again that my headlights don't seem to be illuminating the road far enough ahead of me to make for safe driving. It seems that either the bulbs are getting weaker/older (?) or the headlights need adjusting? (I did recently replace my 225/50/R17 inch tires with four new 225/45/R17 inch tires, would that make a difference?) If I wanted to adjust the headlights myself is there a standard distance I should park away from the garage door I am testing my lights on? And then at what height should the beam center on the garage door, etc? Or where could I find the adjustment specs in writing? Finally with regard to the headlight thing how would I go about making the adjustment (i.e. where is the adjustment screw, etc)?

One last question is it a big deal that the tires I put on where not identical in size to those that came on the vehicle and that are rec in the manual?

I doubt the 1/2" height difference will make that much of a change. Yes, from what I understand, HIDs as they get old can become weaker or change color temps. I suggest trying a new set of bulbs as it's probably time.
