Hi Infiniti Gurus,

I just bought a 94 Q and drove it 800 miles back from Tampa to Jax,NC. It ran flawlessly, despite the slightly imbalanced tires. The headlights are atrocious, dim as hell and totally mis aimed. I tried to adjust them and get the level bubble to the center (they were all the way to the front of the level) but the long bolt that looks like it moves it up and down just kept spinning. Is this the way to adjust the lights? Do I have to remove the assy and realign the adjustment bolt?

In addition, the car came with a tiny 450CCA battery and tiny 6 gauge battery cables, so the windows and sunroof and locks all seem to be operating really weakly. Could the too small battery and cheap *** cables and terminals be causing these minor electrical probs?

Between the dim headlights and all the other electrical issues you mentioned, I would have a professional diagnose the charging system, and replace the battery with a higher capacity model.

DO NOT just replace the battery on your own and hope it "cures" your issues, false economy as if charging system is not operating correctly,it will destroy your new battery!!!!

As far as adjustment - I think I have heard of the 94-96 headlamp assemblies having stripped adjusting screw sockets several times. I don't recall the fix... maybe they are available from http://www.everythinginfiniti.com ?

If your headlight assemblies are messed up, I've got a 94 passenger headlight. It's got a chip in the glass but works fine. Drop me a line if you're interested.

Three of the four adjusting knobs on my 94Q were stripped (nylon gears) when I tried to adjust my beams. I ended up removing all the adjustment assemblies and using a wood dowel as a wrench to adjust the beams. I couldn't get my paws behind the light to turn the dowel so I had to unbolt the light each time, make an adjustment and then loosely secure the assembly and check the alignment. A PITA but you should only have to do it one time. The FSM has a great picture with all the beam measurements you'll need to complete the job.

Thank you for all the responses. I realized at the Autozone that the bubble in the levels were right in the center, I forgot my driveway has a steep angle, DOH!However, the left front light seems to be aiming too low, but the right side looks okay. I will figure out a way to adjust them, I'll probably take them out and study them. The wood dowel trick sounds cool but I'm not picturing it right in my head, maybe I'm confused.

If the adjustment knobs are frozen or stripped you're going to end up having to remove the headlight assembly to get to the adjustment assembly to remove it. Once it is removed you'll see how to adjust the beam with your hand made tool (dowel?).

You'll be an expert at removing/installling your headlamp assemblies by the time you're done with the beam adjustment.
