got a 92 NA and I was trying to get my low beams brighter by buying various bulbs online and from retail stores, but each and every single one wasn't that bright... i'm not sure if it's just the way the low beam housing is or if I need to take it apart and clean it or whatnot... i changed the high beams and they're nice and bright and not street legal even... =P but i dun even use my high beams... i just want my low beams to be nice and bright... was thinking about getting HID but i dun wanna spend a few hundred just to find out it doesn't help much... anyone have any suggestions?

try cleaning them, the lens could be dirty.

also, check all the wiring for the low beams, make sure you're not losing some power somewhere along the line.

ok I'm going to college for autos so hopefully I don't sound like an idot haha but it sounds like you have a short some in your headlights, high resistance in your ground will usually cause your lights to be dim, check it out and let me know

One of design flaws on a Z is the head lights, My fog lighs are brighter then my headlights on my low mileage 95' Z. I bought a HID system for the Z but have not have the time to install them yet. I did hear form other Z owner's who has HID installed to their Z love it!!!!

I've had HID's on my Z for years now..also might want to remove the glare guards from them as the cut pattern is pretty low. If your car is a 4X4 though then don't do this mod or you might bother other oncoming drivers, but my car sits on the ground and I haven't had issues, the stock projector housing with the glare guards removed works great and has a nice focused beam pattern.

^ Good info.

Also, for a less pricey alternative, Sylvania Silverstars are your best choice. Nice upgrade for not too much money...

Yeah the silverstars are great. Ran them in my 240 and Jetta. Will get them put on the Conquest eventually.

My '91 2+2 NA has same very soft as I would call it, low beams. I just drive with fog lights on when using lows. But, the Sylvania Silverstars mentioned below I will look into. OSCN

I went to Pep Boys to pick some up. Used the computer to find which ones. I selected 1990 -> Nissan -> 300ZX -> then it gave me 4 choices for low beams. Any idea which I should pick?

Thanks.
