Ok, my car overheated, and i had noticed it was running just a hair higher than normal temp-wise. As soon as it started to get up towards H...eventually hitting H as i got pulled over from highway speed...i shut it down and towed to Pep boys. I replaced the t-stat and the temp gauge started reading normal again. Well about 2 miles down the road (after topping off), the idle started climbing and falling all over the place, the engine started to basically trip all over itself....idle from 2000 to 650....and then the infamous white smoke started pouring out. The car was very hard to start after that. Now come my questions.
I had a metal head gasket on to begin with...97 s14 sr20det.....T28bb turbo
1. Has anyone seen a MHG blown from overheating ( i assume any material could)2. Could the overheat have killed my turbo and headgasket at the same time?3. The smoke is white and sweet smelling...not bluieish....so it shouldnt be piston rings right?4. would the coolant mixing screw the injectors causing this terrible idle?
Now they did a compression test and it was low....like 110 115 100 110...but with the start up really hard and ****ty idle, wouldn't be at operating temperature....
5. Could low compression across the board be from the HG....i know its usually adjacent cylindars...but have you seen HG's blown with low or even compression?
so yeah, im having them replace the head gasket, water pump, turbo....replacing all seals...etc
yes they are taking the head to the machine shop....thanks ahead of time fellas
