Car: Fixing problems with my car!

Post

I'll try to make this short. Had my SR dropped in about three weeks ago and it has been fine. On Saturday morning I got on it a little and as soon as I reached about 4000 rpm the motor made so weird noise, almost like a buzzing and became extremely sluggish. After pulling some resources, I decided to start with the ignition system, starting with the plugs. 1-3 are just fine. When I pulled out the plug in cylider four, it was soaked in this grayish liquid and corrosion was built up on the plug. This leads me to believe the shop that installed the motor never even checked the plugs or even did a compression check because of the amount of build up on the plug. Could this be a blown headgasket or maybe another culprit. Any answers or suggestions would be helpful because I took the car back today and the guys at the shop seem to think it isn't and they generally don't seem to be too helpful at all. Thanks.

check for white smoke out your tail pipe, high engine temp on your gauge, and low coolant levels, also if you can, do a leakdown test and also a compression test to pinpoint the problem you are having.

There isn't any white smoke and the temp levels seem to be pretty stable. Coolant is a bit on the low side. I am going to ask them to do a compression and leak down test. The thing was, they were supposed to have done that before the motor was installed, or at least that is what they told me. I don't think that within three weeks of driving the car relatively babyish that I could have blown the headgasket, especially on stock boost levels.

Not too sure. Just talked to the shop and they said the headgasket is fine. Going to run a compression and leak down to test to be 100% sure though. But then they run into a new problem. Apparently there is some type of oil recirculation by the factory air box, so they had to bypass it because it was sending oil through the intake and turbo. Also, it was clouding up the maf sensor which was making the car gurgle and die. Easy solution though, run a jim wolf filter and eliminate that stupid oil recirculation thing.

its not for oil circulation. Its Crankcase ventilation. Install a catch can or a breather filter where it comes off the valve cover.

The SR comes stock with an oil catch can. It T's into the catch can and the intake, but I just have the one that went to the intake chopped off and oil has never leaked out if. Plug it up if you're worried.
