I got some 86.5 cp pistons and was wondering what size head gasket to get? Do i just get one that 87mm or do they make a 86.5? And has anyone else had a problem with the arp main studs not fitting and hitting the upper oil pan ?

On ebay, i found the 86.5 by typing "sr20det head gasket 86.5" and a cosmetic metal headgasket poped up. its about 100 bucks. so if your looking for a better brand im sure they make them. you just got to look around.

Thank you, any reason why I should go with cosmetic?

It is a very common thing to shave off some of the upper pan with ARP's. When I get to doing my rebuild I am going Maxworks stud kit. They are supposed to bolt right in without upper pan mod. Same material as ARP, just their version.

I would get a Tomei Head gasket . They are more reputable than Cosmetic.

Cosworth makes an 87mm gasket that works great. You'll be fine with a slightly larger than bore gasket. Just don't go with one that's smaller

As for Cometic, avoid their gaskets. The QA is low, so i've seen quite a few motors leak with them, but on the flip side, you'll find people who will swear by them. Hit or miss is how I put it

Thanks, 87mm is a lot easier to find so i will just go with that size and the maxworks main studs. I"ll post some pics of the build in a week or two.
