so i was curious i can find 87mm bores for the rb25 all day long. i have 86mm bore i know, will it make a tremendous difference if i use a hg with a 1mm bore bigger than what i have? i cant see why but just wondering. thanks.

yeah, nengun is good. shipping isnt cheap, and i hope to god you dont need those items anytime soon. lol. IE, shipping takes what feels like years.

really? that sux. i really need those in somewhat of a timely fashion. any other suggestions? all i really need is a metal hg and a "stronger"(uhh ok) timing belt. sorry that label makes me laugh. im sure it is, but whatever. i like the blue and i need a new one, and an oem is about the same. so also my original question, does the 1mm overbore on the hg make a difference? i have 86mm and the ones i found are 87mm. just wondering.

you should be fine. the clearnace helps prevent the piston hitting the headgasket at TDC

Most times its not the headgaskit that fails its the stock head bolts. When you boost higher than stock you will lift the head and blow out the headgaskit. I would spent the money on a set of arp's head bolts. The timing belts are just great assurance. I always get new ones if im seting up a rb. The stock headgaskit should be good to 30-35 pounds of boost with the correct fastners. Dont forget to get the head shaved and checked before you put it on.

Furthermore, if you are putting in a metal head gasket you probably have to shave the deck of the block as well. Any little pitting will be out of spec and will cause problems.

yeah i figured on that. as far as the bolts, i am going to see what i can get made. i have a friend who is a machinist. maybe some sort of ultra strong head bolts? i really like the allen head confgurement. no need to strip the head bare to take it off (did nissan plan on replacing the hg a lot on those?) anyway, probably get the arp studs as well. we shall see.

why reinvent the wheel, use ARP, they're already proven, i'm not sure about custom headbolts, unknown strenght...can you really trust it, hmmm you spent that much on the motor, why not $150 for the head bolts? hmmm

ha actually i got the whole car less than a motor set. s14 se. just punching my mental clown. he teased me with ideas of ti steel blend bolts for not much more than arp. something like 5000 ft lbs of tensle strength. i was like ...wouldnt ti be really brittle? apparently not with this concoction. i was just amused with the idea of saying...i have ti head bolts. ill have arp studs soon though. i am really more and more toying with the idea of just totally rebuilding teh thing. i dont want anymore than 300-350 whp, but i really like my car to start and drive. my srt makes 300+ and i drive it everyday. rarely do i find a lightweight car with 300+hp slow. maybe on a dragstrip, but thats about it. 500 is nice, but ill be the one driving away after i lose to that car. thats my goals. anyone have rb26 pistons and rod they need rid of?

I have RB26 rods and pistons and I'll be glad to help you out as I am almost done with my rebuild. Just waiting on parts now. E-mail me at [email protected].
