Hi, yes you can. BUT, unless you get the proper machine work to both head and block surfaces it will be likely to leak. Unless you are aiming for 400+whp stick to Felpro or Nissan OEM.

Good luck.

Even at 400hp, a composite headgasket will be just fine. As already stated, unless both surfaces have been resurfaced properly, it will indeed leak. Just get a Victor Reinz, AJUSA or Felpro unit and you will be just fine. If I had the choice, I'd take the Victor Reinz or AJUSA units and Felpro will be my 3rd choice.

As others have said, you can't just pull the head off, throw a cometic on and put it back together. It WILL leak. MLS head gaskets require a VERY smooth surface to seal, and the stock head and block surfaces aren't smooth enough. I've never actually seen a stock HG fail because the engine made too much power for it. If it weren't for the bore I'm running now, I'd still be using a stock HG.

Float, I have a question about your comment. My block was bored to 83.5mm on the rebuild process, and my 84mm Cometic Gasket is leaking oil mildly, right by the uneven stud above the oil dipstick hole. (yeah, I know :slap: )

Whats the bore of the standard HG or any of the other recommended non-MLS HGs, in order to replace it in the near future?

Cross referenced part numbers and diameter details.

I guess I'm out of luck with the Ajusa and OEM 83mm diameters.

I'm pretty sure the bore of the Felpro HG is 84mm, so you should be fine. I'm bored out to 84.5mm, so I HAD to go with a Cometic to get an 85mm bore HG.
