So I just got my Stillen Catback for my 2.5s on Thursday and I installed it that day and it has a nice deep tone. I have a problem with it not being loud enough. I was thinking about getting new headers possibly from Stillen but I want to know if this will make my exhaust louder and by how much. Should i get that or would cutting my resonators be a better choice? OR should i cut my resonators and get the headers? Thanks ~Daniel.

headers will make you louder! a bit though. Keep the resonator and replace the mufflers with just tips (stright piping with tips) if you want to make it louder. i got a vid up here somewhere with my set up i had with I/H/E and i got it where it was low and quiet but drone is TERRIBLE no matter what i did with the headers on.

have a new axle back done rather than cutting off the mufflers so you can always go back to full stillen exhaust. Headers work and they give you a completely different tone. They require quite a bit of work to install aswell including cutting the b-pipe and relocating your second o2 sensor. Also you gotta extend the cables from the factory harness. If your Okay with doing that go for it! :)

Oh okay, so I should keep the resonator and change the tips. I don't really want to change the tone of the exhaust if i get the headers.

Heres how my set up was. With I/H/E my exhaust set up was similar to the stillens with a bigger resonator and bigger mufflers.

Yes, have a new axle back done without modifying the stillen exhaust. This will however change your exhaust tone aswell. but it will be considerably louder.

New axle back for me with the huge mufflers was 300...
If you get just piping with tips it should be no more than 200 depending on the tips you get.
I was quoted 150 for piping and 4inch angled cut tip installed.

Old thread lol. I cut the resonators like 4 days after I got my Stillen Catback installed a while back, and it was a lot louder and there was a nasty weedwacker noise. It's been so many months now and my exhaust has a nice deep tone but the drone is terrible. The rice noise has gone away  except for like 8 seconds of driving after a cold start. I was thinking about what you said before, just switching the tips. I thought that wouldn't do anything, and if it does where do you think I should buy some at that'll make my exhaust louder. Grandparents are coming to town in a month and the drone inside won't be pleasent for them :tisk:

I have stillen axlebacks, cut the resonator and straight pipped it the drone is ridiculous but my exhaust is real deep lol especially when it's hot. Changing your muffler to tips wont cut the drone id think a catback would have less drone then the axleback tho.

Well I don't think he was saying get new tips, I thought he meant cut the muffler out (axle back) and just do straight piping to the tips.
