So I'm looking into getting a whole new exhaust system I have a 93 240sx hatchback ka24de. So I am aware that the 4-2-1 will make your RPM shorter as for the 4-1 will make them higher rev. I was thinking or asking in this case that what if the 4-2-1 was with a 3 inch starlight pipe would that even out the rpm? Or would that just throw the car out of wack. Or a 4-2-1 with a high flow cat 2.5 then out to a 3 inch would be a better go? Then comes the 4-1 straight 3 inch out? Or a 4-1 2.5 down pipe high flow cat to a 3 inch? I'm just asking these questions and see if anyone has had any of the types of systems and have had any experience with these set ups? Thanks .

I had a 4-2-1 OBX header from ebay paired with a gutted cat and a 3 inch Circuit Sports dual exhaust on my first S13... It did create a tiny bit of power and moved my RPM band up a little higher, which made the car rev better. Essentailly, you'll lose like 10hp in the lower RPMs & pick them back up in the higher range. Not enough power to whine about, really.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have skipped these mods to put that money into suspension, brakes, 5 lug hubs or save for something that produces some real power.

God, now that I think about it... those headers where so damned annoying. The EGR valve's gotta be plugged or otherwise it'll snag on your steering column knuckle every damn time you turn the steering wheel. Scary as hell. And those EGR/AIV plugs can be hard to find if you're already waist deep in the middle of an install....

Yeah that's what I initially had in mind was to save money for a full suspension then just ride the heck out of the ka and maybe a swap but that's in the future it was just that I had that in mind but after what you just mentioned I will most deff. save up for a suspension. You kind of scared me after what you said about the steering colum haha. Thanks for you reply though!

No problem, man. I just wish I had the good sense to listen when older forum members told me not to waste my money on that crap 10 years ago. I was all stuck on this "Oh this is just to hold me over until I can afford blah blah blah..."

Pick your mods carefully & do it right the first time. Saves time, energy & money.
