headers and ypipe

hey im new to this site and to my 2002 max 6speed. love the friggin' car, got a question if anyone can help me please, gonna put on ssautochrome headers and ypipe on my car cause of the price and i know there is cat's in the exhaust manifolds and o2's before and after them. question is; is the check engine light gonna come on after and/or is a management system needed or available? is my every day driver and hoping to not have probs after the install.

No. the Ecu light should not come on after installing headers. You will probably have to rewire teh o2 sensors.

i also bought my headers/y-pipe from ssautochrome. i have had them on my '99 maxima for about a year & 1/2. i love them! i have never had any problems what-so-ever....no engine light, didnt need to rewire anything, etc...etc...but then again, your max is an 2002 so the sensors may be different than mine. honestly though, i love my headers/y-pipe! id definately do it all over again, lol

thanks for ur help, when u say rewire the o2 sensors, do u mean lengthen them? and any probs with air/fuel mixture? feel much gain in the 2002? car is awesome already. lookin for a good price on a udp also.

How many o2 sensors do you have? Is the car cali emissions? If you have 4 o2 sensors, then it is cali emissions, and you will always have the CEL.

Yeah. i had to extend my o2 wires. IT was all good. I had no check engine lights, everything was great until I went to Toronto with the car and a big *** snow storm. My rear o2 sensor wire got caught and split in half. Now I have a CEL for the rear o2. That's it.My air fuel ratio was around the 15's and dipped to the high 13s after 5k rpm. I would like to get it leaner, but that will involve Vafc II or a safcII

honestly those were the headers i first bought until others in my area told me to get my money back. seems that 2 others had bought them and blew a weld right in the header. they also didnt get much power gain at all. guess everyone has their own different experiences.

i mean with headers u get what u pay for. im not saying what u did was bad or im not downgrading u or anything. everyone doesnt like to pay that kinda of money for stuff like that. but i think my money was well spent and i love my autotragic kickin a$$

the only 3 headers i would consider getting is hotshot, cattman and stillen. hotshot was no longer available so i got cattman.

as for the o2 sensors...u coulda got a o2 simulator and heat sensors. i had my back o2 sensors taken off and rewired to the simulator in the front of the car. my car hasnt thrown a cel for that since i put the headers on, back in april....

thanks 4 more info, i do have 4 sensors[cali emissions], did you have the autochrome on your max before u switched to cattman? any difference because i did not put these on or open the box yet. and where can i get these heaters and simulater for the 02's? dont want to be bothered with a cel light on

i need help... I bought ebay headers and y pipe and I cut my ERG pipe that leads from the back exhaust manifold to some emissions BS and my car will not idle..or run for that matter. I haven't put the cat or the rest of the exhaust pipe back on yet. Should my ECU already need reprogramming just for that? Need help guys...thanks...
