Here is what I have used so far.The Pace Setter header. This thing is ugly, 2 piece mild steel. I have removed all emmissions, so the only port I used was for the 02 sensor. The lowest of the exhaust runners, I believe cylinder #2 would make contact with the steering shaft. Old engine mounts did not help, but it would contact enough to affect steering. Scared the crap outa me more than once. Had to bang in a small dent with a hammer.Currently running a cheap EBay manifold. Fit and finish is good EXCEPT for the fact that the 02 sensor bung is in the wrong location. I banged out a small part of the firewall (2" by 1/4" or so) to clearance the 02 sensor. I have heard from a couple others that the AIV and the other tube do not line up either. As I am not using these, it is of no consequence to me. It is a single piece, 4-2-1 design, bolts up at the cat and other than the 02 sensor, has no clearance problems at all.

yes, the header gasket=exhaust manifold gasket

ok, ups brought it to me w/ out the gasket set missing, i callled the shipper about it... they made a claim to send me another...

i told them i don't need the whole new header, just a gasket set; so now it's just sitting in the shed collecting dust!

ps, if you're going to use your existing AIV pipes & EGR pipes, save those PLUGS from the exhaust pipe and resell/ give them away to other NICOnauts that may want to eliminate the AIV/ EGR...

pps: i didnt have time to install this header yet, so I can't tell you if there's possible fitment problems

i can't find the original ebay listings, but here's a link to the seller's site:

this is the exact one i got http://stores.channeladvisor.c...eader

oh on that site, they say it's for a KA24DE it's a typo: we all know the 89-90 models only came w/ the KA24E

Just save your money for something that will give you more than a 2-3 hp gain. I have the same car, when i bought it it had a aftermarket header on it. I switched back to the stock one because of an o2 sensor issue and i seriously couldn't tell the difference.

Usually the ones with a turbo bolted up to 'em.Honestly, the performance gains to be had are minimal. Depending on how much you spend, you may like a header more than the stock piece.I spent minimal scratch on mine, and at under $100 dollars, if it lasts 10 months it will have been worth the cost. I just prefer the look of a bunch of shiny tubes running under the car of a North/South engine layout. Simple aesthetics for me. I can feel the mid-range is opened up a bit, and with a 2.5" Megan test pipe, I could really feel a difference. I just could not stand the extra noise, so the test pipe came out, and a new Magnaflow cat with proper flanges was installed. One piece of advice if you do go with a stainless header: after install and before start-up wipe the manifold down with glass cleaner. The oil from your skin and hands will burn onto the surface of the manifold marring the finish a bit. Not a big deal, just one of those detail things.

anybody here know if the ka24de header will bolt onto the ka24e? i was told that the turbo kits are interchangable so i kind of assumed that the header would be too, but i don't know if they meant the manifold was interchangable? anybody know?
