What up guys? New here to the forum. I have an 03 350Z. My CD's are constantly skipping and my subwoofer keeps cutting out. I've read that this is fixed by replacing the head unit. Is this correct? Thanks in advance. -Paul

your system all factory? if it is, id opt for an aftermarket HU anyway as ive never heard anything great on even the premium sound system on our era of z... if you got an aftermarket setup, maybe a short somewhere? good luck dude

Yes all stock. You think a new head unit will help w the subwoofer cutting out?

CD's skipping, assuming that the CD's are in good condition, is probably either a dirty or end of life CD player but check the install anyway and make sure it's not moving around or getting smacked inside the dash somehow.Subwoofer cutting out could be heat related (circuit protection), sub related (short, crappy wiring, poor ground/end of life), system wiring/power, etc. You should eliminate the obvious and maybe have someone with some experience take a quick look at it. Most audio places will at least give you a decent idea of what the issue may be. If the system is stock, the problems could be in the installation if the proper after market setup wasn't used. Stock systems require a bit of twiddling (yes, it's a word) sometimes to play nice with aftermarket stuff. One word of caution, if you upgrade the HU, you might as well figure on buying a whole new setup, they put something in the packaging that causes an upgrade addiction to form. Good luck with it.
