i have searched and searched but have yet to find real usable information

when using the factory amps and speakers but new head unit. which wire is for the amp turn on on the factory harness?

its best to use a ground point on the chassis instead of the radio harness ground correct? does the factory harness ground wire need to be wired into the chassis ground that comes on the aftermarket head unit harness?

also when using aftermarket head unit does the antenna go up and down correctly as stock, being used only when using radio?

also those who say you will burn out the head unit when using factory amps and speakers i don't understand how that would be possible. i understand if you were to use the factory speakers wired directly to the head unit, that would probably overheat the unit as it would be at 2 ohm when radio is outputing 4 ohm. thanks.

I used Metra 70-7551 amplifier harness and works great. easy too wire up also. yes, the antenna will work just like OE when the unit is on.

You need to ground the amps from harness and headunit to any metal part in the dash.

You will see it on the new harness. Blue wire that says amp signal or remote system line

Doesnt matter. they all need a ground. theres metal in the dash. Use a self tapping screw and drill right into any metal with all the ground wires

ok thanks now one more and i will go away on this

lets say you replace only the front speakers with 4 ohm units and bypass the front amps, but leave the rear using the factory amps with factory speakers that shouldn't be a problem right?

I think you will still need a line output converter for the rear speakers. I'm not sure of the load presented by the rear amp though, it may be 4 ohms. Perhaps you can check with a multimeter?

Keeping stock speakers in the rear is not ideal; it's best to have identical speakers in all doors otherwise there will be timbre differences and things may sound off.

true that, but thats why you have a fader. i dont really care about the back speakers honestly thats why i was saying. ill put new speakers back there when the window motors go out lol

so what speakers fit the factory holes, i was thinking of getting some MB QUARTS OR ROCKFORD FOSGATES. I FOUND SOME KILLER MB QUARTS FOR LIKE 40 BUCKS

Ok so if I am understanding this correctly

Ground from head unit. Wired with ground amp wire from harness and just not use the ground on the factory harness.

The ground to the bar behind the chassis is better than the stock ground? Just curious which to use.

Basically a y connection. Ground amp+ground to chassis

I was thinking that if you were to run chassis ground and the one In the harness you would introduce noise due to creating a ground loop. How efficient is the ground using the bar in chassis compared to harness.

ALRIGHT so i did the install last night, flawless. worked fine on the first shot. i grounded straight to the chassis on left hand side there is a nut that holds the frame together. simply loosen the bolt put ground on and tighten up. unfortunetly the radio bezel did not fit with the wood grain. but still looks good anyway, its such a tight fit anyway. the sound is simply amazing in my opinion. super clear at volume and alot more mids. totally impressed i recommend to all the sony cdx-530ui perfect blue match to led gauge lights. the usb feature is awesome super fast transitions.the radio reception increase is insane. i can pull stations that my stock radio could not.

the volume is perfect just as stock in regards to the ability of adjustment level 1-10 is how it should be and not loud, like someone had said in posts i saw. it was stated aftermarket radio would be loud at low volumes and distort at high. this is not true. it works flawlessly no static no nothing. use the regular nissan infiniti harness dont waste your time and money with the rca one.

getting the brackets off the factory head unit required a impact electric drill

i used generic nissan/infiniti metra wire harness, metra radio adapter and metra din universal din kit.
