Head Unit : Illumination/Dimmer wires???

Could someone please pass along which is the correct way to deal with these two wires with an aftermarket head unit?

Nissan is telling me that they were done incorrectly which blew my dimmer switch which has blackened my dash. I'm thinking of buying a new dimmer (if that is the problem) and do not want to blow a second.

If I remember correctly there was only 1 wire for illumination/dimmer when I installed my HU. Do a search for wiring diagrams, I found a good one somewhere on these boards that helped me out.

I'm not exactly sure which wire to tap in either. I bought a Kenwood headunit and installed everything but the illumination/dimmer wire. I believe the wire is suppose to be tapped into the gauge cluster light control wire on the cluster harness. So when the lights illuminate inside the gauge cluster, a signal is sent to the Kenwood headunit telling it to dim.

I couldn't find the wiring diagram. So on my next day off, I'm going to borrow my friend's light tester and find the wire myself by testing it. Hopefully I'll be successful. Unless you want to just tell me which wire it is, I'll appreciate it.
