Will a 5th Generation HU on a maxima be totally compatible with an I35? I currently have the crappy BOSE system. I have a 02' I35 (silver, black leather/wood interior). I need to get a HU and a Sub. Any recomendations

A Bose unit from a Maxima should be compatible.

It sounds like you're asking about an aftermarket HU?

The Bose unit in the I35 is identical to that in the 5th gen Maxima (same years) internally. The trim is different though, as the opening in the A33 I30/I35 dash is wider than that in the Maxima. Thus the reason why Maxima dash kits won't fit the I30/I35 properly.

You can get a dash kit custom made, or you can try to source a dash kit from a Taiwanese Market Nissan Cefiro. They have double din openings and have the appropriate curvature at the top for our analog dash clock. Most other foreign market Maxima/Cefiros that are our body style have digital clocks, so those kits won't fit our cars.

I definately am looking for an Aftermarket HU. I was hoping not to get a custom made dash kit but, oh well, guess that what i got to do....
