I keep blowing my radio fuse.... Third time in 24 hours. I have OEM rockford fosgate stereo. It rarely goes above #15
Also, side note, I have a remote starter in the car - it was installed through nissan when I purchased the car new - it now has 80K km (or 50k mi) It is a bit flakey due to an intermittent problem with the neutral safety switch other than that it is stock with no modifications
Symptoms:

Occurrence # 1
Worked on the way to work, when I went to come home turned on the car and no radio / clock / bluetooth. I hit the power button and nothing.

I have no bluetooth light on or radio display so to me that indicated no power to the unit.

So some troubleshooting led me to the fuse panel under hood and I thought problem solved

Occurrence #2
I went to get fuel this morning, and listened to radio on the way there, and when I started the car after the fill up no radio again.

Occurrence #3

I turned the car to accessories on, while radio was powered off. Clock was displaying. When I powered up radio heard a thump from the subwoofer in the trunk and then radio shut down.

Has anyone had similar problems, maybe provide some insight for a newbie?

Thoughts?

did you start the car all of these times with the remote starter? could it be a bad connection or module from the starter? can you/ are you able to disconnect the remote starter and see if it is actually causing the power surges? and try and find out where they wired the power side for the starter to. try those especially the starter disconnected. and I can only assume you replaced with the correct amperage for the fuse.

No luck with remote starter. Still happens.
I'm going to disconnect sub / sub amp and see what happens.

I'll keep you posted

I will admit I have no idea how they would wire that stuff in, but did you try my suggestions, or is it still blowing the fuse without the starter connected? just wanna make sure, I'm going to assume you tried it with the starter out of circuit.

possibly inspect the wiring and make sure none of it is shorting out. This I do realize is WAY easier said than done.

Good luck

I disconnected the subwoofer assembly. No more blown fuses. Only problem Nissan wants $900 for oem replacement. Any suggestions on non oem replacements that will integrate with the oem assembly / unit?

its the stock amp and subwoofer? shouldn't that be under warranty? doubt there's much in the way of aftermarket, but i'm sure a google search or 2 should yield something.

I think only 60K km or 3 years applies to electronics in Canada. If not correct me. I did google search, however just links to rockford fosgate, and they won't sell it as it is OEM. I have a wrecker local with a couple of SL in the yard, so I am wondering if I will get lucky and be able to walk out with on for fairly cheap.

I'm honestly not sure, but I thought that the 3 yr warranty was bumper to bumper, at least thats what I got. so if not hopefully you can get the parts you need cheap
