Well, I checked the head tolerance with a Snap-On straight edge, and had one place that could fit a .002" feeler gauge under it...this was near a water jacket, away from where the fire rings in the headgasket will be. I tried .0025" and it would not slide under the straight edge.

Is .002" close enough for the Fel-Pro gasket to handle? The block deck will be milled, if needed, but I'm thinkin' this head is gonna be ok.

This is for a 400ish whp/wtq engine w/ 8.8:1 CR.

Thanks in advance.

If you are using Cometic or some other MLS, I would get it cut.

Thanks. As I mentioned before, it's not even near the fire-ring area, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Isn't it funny how on this car, max warpage is .004, but I've seen smallblock Chevy V8's run up to .010 with a Fel-Pro gasket!

Crazy.

You would be fine with a Fel-pro, but MLS is a whole different monster. That ***** has to be perfect to use that kind of gasket.
