high comp DOHC power without much work. Swapping heads is easier than pulling/swapping pistons.

Read: more power for cheap

well.. more than the KA24DE has stock.. its like a higher compression KA24DE.. so... stock DOHC has 155/165.. add about 10hp, also you always have to use premium

It will add a lot more than 10hp. You are raising compression from like ~9.7 to 11.7... My guess was ~200 tuned with race gas.

nab911 do you have any pre-made maps corresponding to a nice ~200whp tune of a ka24e with a de head, so technically a higher cr ka24de ?? I'm going through the swap and was lookiing for a nice program to run in the ecu.. and it seems u've already done the tuning.. so would u like to share the wealth?

Lol.. no i have my e torn down and i gotta pick up the de this week. Those numbers are just my guesses based on others experiences. Once i get this whole tuning thing down, and start writing maps ill be glad to send out the maps/chips.

cool cool.. well I might beat you to it.. I've already got the head I just need to get around to tearin' into the e, then adding the de stuff, and then tuning it :) wide band should be in the mail, so after that I'll just hook it up with some nice higher cr e maps, and tune it for my de ;)What do you think? Also can you take some pics of your e torned down... and how much of a pain was it.. I'm really wondering if I can tear it down and swap everything in one day???

Hi all

I have both a 'de and an 'e (90 and 92 240s), but my 90 'E has a blown head gasket. The other night I was thinking about just biting the bullet and replacing the gasket... And what an (apparent) PITA it would be.. Since you'd have to pull the timing chain, so you'd have to pull the front off (pulley, fan, rad, etc).

Anyway it sounds like it would be quite a bit of work to pull the head -- but even once it's off wouldn't you need the timing chain setup (chains, tensioners, guides, etc) from a DE to make it all work? What else is needed for this conversion?

edit: doh

This sounds like a great idea :). Anyone running a conversion, if so did you before/after dyno?

pretty much a full head (manifolds/intake stuff, fuel rail/injectors, head, cams, timing chain, cam gears, valve cover, head gasket) a full DOHC timing kit, a custom plate to mount a SOHC lower timing cover, to a DOHC upper timing cover.
