I took my 240 SX SE to a shop where they took the head off, sent it out for resurfacing, put it back on and now it won't start. Mechanic says compression is too low. Car ran good only water came out exhaust which was a good indication of a warpped head. I was told if timing chain is off it can bend the valves, but with the compression being low I think either the machine shop screwed up or possibly the block is warpped as well. Any suggestions? Thanks, MattP.S. My email address is [email protected] If you're posting please forward to me directly so I don't have to page through this link.

yes if timing chain is off you will have low compression but thats not your problem. You took it to a shop and they removed the head and now it wont run? That is thier problem and they are responsible for getting it running as long as you drove it in there.

yeah i would bet on your timing being off about 180*. i wouldn't worry about the water in your exhaust quite yet, as it could be a little left in the chamber when they put the head back on.take it back and tell them whats up, they need to fix the problem they created.

"Mechanic says compression is too low" remove car from vicinity of bolt tightener--do not pay money and find a Nissan/auto tech.
