head removal? will the chain drop?

omg im nervous this is my first time posting a topic lol but anyway.....basically i need to change my head gasket and i found info on how to do this and i also have have a FSM. but what i dont seem to understand is how to keep the chain from falling in there? cuase then ill be screwed so can anyone help? i heard about using a peice of wood but idk

is bout the same thing. go to ka-t.org/forums and check there. but here u have the fsm they tell u how to do it if u read. what year is ur car?

89 i read thru the fsm and it says to use such tool as pictured it looked like a peice of wood with a string attached to it ....i have to replace it the HG but i dont want to mess up the timing....its funny how i can swap out the motor and do a auto to manual conversion no problem lol
