So I am planning to go to the junk yard today on a last minute whim and pull the head off of a 91 or 92 240SX. I need to know what tools I need to take it off. Last I looked I need a hex sized wrench, looked like a 12MM of 14MM hex, then some kind of square one for the 2 bolts in the middle, like a 3/4th socket, or 1/2, however neither seem to fit in there right. Too loose or too big, any idea what that may be?

Thanks guys, if you know exactly what I need that will help out a lot, since I'm guessing I will have to buy a few parts before I leave.

I think it tells you how to remove the cylinder head under the timing chain removal section. Too bad it doesn't really say what tools you need =p

Tell us how it goes.

You need a bunch of stuff dude.. Gotta pull the exhaust manifold, and take a bunch of stuff off the intake manifold. You can remove the head+intake manifold together, IMO that makes it a lot ezier. Then you have to take the valve cover+front timing cover off. After that, you have to pull the cams + front timing cover. Then the head will come off after you take off the 14mm allen bolts(it may be 12 i cant remember, its been a while since iv done stock rod bolts).

Yeah, I know I have to take the intake and exhaust off, that's easy. Turns out the OEM head bolts are 10MM. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to get it off. Oh well always tomorrow.

I got it off!! And took the intake manifold too. :D I wish I could of had taken it all, the cylinder block was in good shape. It looks like the guys ring lands blew out on cylinder 3 and then shipped it off to the junk yard.

if anyone in Minnesota still wants it the lower half of the block is still in good shape. UpullRparts in rosemount.

Nice.

How much did it all cost you?
