ok, got the head back, three angle valve job, re-seated valves, slightly ported intake and exhaust ports, modified combustion chamber, decked the head 0.006" or something and some other stuff i don't rememeber, not the best pictures as everything was still dirty.. i'll post better pictures when it is all cleaned up and ready to start assembly,

still awaiting delivery of the vlavetain and crower rods, dam it's been like 6 weeks...

Very nice indeed. I think I may have made a mistake in useing the CA16 head, I beleive your intake valves look a smidge bigger, DOH! machine shop guy already did the valve back cut, and the 5 angle, and the valve unshrouding, looks like I am stuck with it. on the plus side, I traded him free pizza for all that!! How much were the crowers??

say.... do you need some quality forged pistons for that motor??

looks like quality work! should be one hell of a motor when your done!

McAdam

edit: DOH! I just read you already have JE's going it. wouldn't want to cahnge to ROSS pistons, would you? me and boost boy need one more for a price break, would be about $400 a set (at price break) with pins. only thing you';d need would be rings.

Looks good...I'll post pics of my intake ports this weekend for some comparison pics...mine are also ported and polished, as is my whole intake manifold (almost...I'm on the last part of the upper manifold now, and the manifold and head are all gasket matched) Looks like your going to have a mean engine when your done :D

Is it just me or does that look like that head didn't get ported? Those ports look like they still have a bit of casting flash and stuff...

What compression ratio are you gonna end up with? What valvetrain stuff did you order? Cams? Where did you order them from? How much were the rods?

Where can you get pistons for 400 a set?

Sorry about all the questions but that looks like one nice setup...

Quote »looks untouched.[/quote] Possibly the camera's resolution, but still pretty rough on the inside. Maybe the finished product will resemble this one.

also, it APPEARS that the head wasnt decked correctly. either bad machinary or possibly head warpage. looks like some spots were skipped. i used to work in a head shop, so im a bit picky.

edit: i cant really tell from the pic but at closer inspection it looks like the head is cracked in several spots. can you confirm that it doesnt?

I see the shiny spots where the bit just skimmed over the head.

he said he picked it up today so i would assume that meant it was complete, yet the ports look untouched and the valve area looks to still have built up around one of the valves! even the slightest port job should remove the flashing of the cast shouldnt it >?

So I took the block and it was decked correctly as well. I will be picking everything up today and posting some pics of them as well (for the 2nd time), but with the correct machine work. At least the 1st dweeb ported and polished the head nicely as well as did a good job on back-cutting the valves.

ok thanks for the commnets guys,

after asking about the ports, the head wasn't ported as my builder is going to do that, all that was done was the decking, combustion chambers and vlave angle job, and it was cleaned up etc.. the intake and exhuast ports are going to be match ported to the custom manifolds...

my builder built 7 second engines so i think he know what he is doing and if the machine work was good etc...

may have some nice news about intake and exhaust manifolds, 5" intake that bolts to the JDM intake runners where the runners w/ butterflies bolts to the intake etc.. and custom tunned equal length exhaust manifold... spoke to the guy who built some of the rally cars i saw and took pics of this weekend in barbados... AMAzing aluminum and stainless steel welding...

i'll post info..
