Hey Guys,

I installed some new HD bulbs in my truck this evening. 2002 qx4. I got the bulbs in fine and they work. However they 2 beams are now pointed way to low. One is even lower then the other. I tried adjusting that screw to aim the beam but nothing happens? I can sit there tightening the screw for 5 minutes and it never stops. Same thing with loosing it. I have tried this on both sides and nothing is happing?
Am i missing something?
Any help ASAP would be awesome. They are pointed so low i need to get them raised!

Thanks !

Your bulbs probably arent sitting flush in there seat. I pull my headlights completely out when changing the bulbs and lay it on a cloth to get a solid light and fighting chance on a secure install

I think the manual adjuster on our Qx4's is only to move it left and right, Ive never messed with that though

Oh shoot I hope i havent messed anything up with turning those screws.

Hmmm maybe I will try that. How does the Head light assembly come out? I tried finding a DIY on google but nothing turned up.

Only 3 bolts hold in each side. But parts around them have to come off.

On my car I can have the grill and front bumper off in 10 minutes. Once those are off theres 1 bolt and 1 nut on the top of each headlight which is easy to see, and theres a bolt on the inside bottom of each headlight (where the bottom of the middle grill is) that is easy to access once the grill is out.

Disconnect the 3 headlight wire harnesses and shes out

Thanks for the help! Yikes what is like like trying to get the grill and bumper off? I am worried to break something for sure.

On the HID bulbs they have that little rod that runs along side the actual bulb. Does it matter which way around that goes into the headlight?

I also noticed that the headlight that is pointer lower then the other, the daytime light is also pointing lower on that same side. This make me think its the head light and not the bulb?

Thanks again for the help!

I should have taken pics when I pulled my headlight out... in any case, Canuck has it pretty spot on.

I think you must remove the grill to get at one of the headlamp bolts.
When removing the grill, I'd suggest NOT using a flathead screwdriver to "twist" those plastic lock-bolts to get the grill off.
My experience is that the screwdriver tends to mess up the plastic.

What I did was take some needle-nose pliers and angle it into the back of those plastic lock-bolts and gently pull at the grill to get it off.

I'll try to snap some shots of what I mean when I get home later tonight.

I'm interested in aligning my headlights too... especially my highbeams.

Thanks for the help!

I just took out my battery and air box to get at the hids. They were both in upside down. Didnt noticed the little groves it had to fit in. They are both pointing much higher and correctly now :)

I still have the problem of one of my headlamps being lower then the other ( including daytime running, and high beams). But i cant see any adjustment to make them even. I guess i wont worrie about it, not a huge deal.
