My left head light make the servo noise and the left head light flicker. My side to side movement worked fine. I plug the left head light and noise went away and both turn fine. So is it safe to plug out? I'm guess I should rap both connectors with Tape? So is it ok to leave plugged out?

Lol thanks I will cover the connectors in the morning! I was so pissed and thinking I have to buy a new headlight. I unplugged the headlight and notice every thing works fine, easy fix than buying a new headlight and even that will fail again pretty sure it's plastic gears in are head lights. Who need auto leveling headlight anyway yuh kno.

My left headlamp makes that same noise. It lasts on and off about 2-3 minutes after starting the engine day or night. My Infiniti guy told me it's not 'normal' but it does happen in lots of M's. Mine is under warranty and the headlamp is 100% covered, but since it does stop on it's own and it did pass the leveling test, it doesn't qualify for replacement (yet).

They need to replace it! If you want you can do like us and just plug it out. But you have warranty so I would be pushing for a replacement.

My headlight works fine, but I've actually turned off the AFS with the switch. Since I have no need for the headlights to turn with my steering wheel I keep it off to avoid having it go bad in the future. Only time I turn it on is when I'm in an area with low lighting.

I think that when I turn off the AFS, the auto leveling probably still works. I have my car dropped plus windshield tint and it is very difficult to see at night since the headlight now aims very low.

My passenger side headlight made that noise (I think during the summer months)...the auto leveler motor was going bad so I just disconnected it and wrapped both connection points with electrical tape.

I ended up disconnecting the driver side as well even though there was no issues there. The auto level sensor is located near the rear wheel (driver side) I thought about disconnecting that, but it didn't matter after I disconnected the auto levelers at the two headlights.

since my car is lowered, I manually adjusted the height of the headlight beams...it's just right now and I don't have to worry about it adjusting any longer....

My drivers headlight doesn't make any noises but when I had the afs on it does stutter when turning. I suspect a grease job is due I just haven't had the time to take the headlight assembly out to investigate.

Hi,

I am having the auto leveling issue on the driver's side of my M45 as well. Does anyone know how to disconnect the auto leveling feature at the headlight so the noise goes away?

Thanks for the help!

You know when I was lowered for the longest time I was seeing oncoming cars flashing their high beams at me. I was wondering why but then discovered that the lowering caused the headlamps to raise just enough so they appear like high beams to oncoming cars. One of the guys here spent a bit of time and created that brilliant bracket to extend the sensors.

Welcome to Nico...

open up your hood and right behind the headlights (more towards the sidewall of the car - directly behind the low beams) is a connector going into the auto leveler motor. Simply press the release on the connector, pull it away from the back of the headlight housing and your done. When I did mine, I just wrapped both the connector and the inlet of the auto leveler motor with electrical tape. If your car is lowered, then you'll just need to manually adjust your headlights one time and forget about it. Saved me a few hundred dollars by unplugging the system rather than buying an entire headlamp assembly.

Hey Avishal,

Can you describe how you disconnected the auto levelers in your car? I have that same motor noise on my driver's side headlamp and I want to just go ahead and disconnect both, it's annoying! Appreciate any insight you have.

I unplug two big connector behind the headlight and neither fix the problem, are you saying there is a third connector that I can not see? turning the afs off or pulling the fuse is not going to work.
