Head Gasket woe's

Well it finally happened the head gasket blew. After all the cooling system issues I had and got them fixed, it went out. Now my question is what kind of nightmare am i looking at to replace the gasket, and is there anything i might want to do to the motor while its apart? or should I just take the highest bid and call it a day.

I would just make sure to change all the front wear items while you're in there. Change the water pump and change the front timing gear (chain if it's high mileage, guides and tensioner if they haven't been updated to the metal-backed design yet).
