Hey guys quick questions,
What is the going price to get my head gasket replaced by a mechanic. Just like a good estimate.
Thanks,

Really? You going to trailer it to whoevers mechanic you get quoted? Calling shops surrounding your area and asking them would probably be the best route. But eh f*** it lets get lazy and ask nico.

You're look at $500-$1000, broad figures I know, but it will vary from shop to shop depending on what they feel like charging for labor.

Have a friend do it for $250 (+parts). You decided that was what your overheating issue is?

I was just asking because im getting quotes in the $1,100 because I thought it was my head gasket but nope its the rings lands in the 3rd piston  dont even know what to do, invested so much money in this POS to find this out, should I buy a new motor, or pay a shop to replace them?

Well a good head, and a good deck will not let a gasket leak.... Chances are it needs milling. Parts, labor ehh shop price is about $1600 Now you pull the head, order timing set (OE) $300, Gasket $100, Studs $150, Valve stems seals $35.00, Shims $40.... friends and a case of beer after you have the head checked and milled $100 shimmed if needed and valve stem seals installed $100

The work itself is easy. The thing is what people overlook, or choose not to do. Headgaskets usually dont just fail unless they are made from paper and forced induction. And it's all apart do the damn valve stem seals, shim the lifter buckets if applicable, and do a timing set.... AND DON'T REUSE THE BOLTS

I would do it, I just don't feel confident messing with the timing. One tooth off and boom
