did nissan update the head gasket or do they still use the graphite style. also noticed the butterfly assy. in the upper intake what is it for and will it hurt the car if removed. because it looks like a large restriction in airflow. car is a 93 se ka24de thanks...

It's for low rpm airspeed velocity... remove them :)

It's a graphite style still as far as I know.
