head gasket?

i start up my car it runs fine and then about ten or so minutes into driving it the temp gauge runs all the way up to hot. if im on the freeway and im doing about 70 with very light throttle the temp will come down. head gasket? radiator? im not sure any advice will help thanks :D

fan clutch perhaps? most likely not the head gasket i would say, but everything is always possible :-p

fan wouldnt matter on the highway.

check:thermostatcoolant leveloil contaminationwaterpump

if the fan is malfunctioning, it would run hot at low speeds where the fan is supposed to work, and not at higher speeds where most of the air flow comes from the air being forced in. therefore, it can in fact be the fan.

Does it ever overheat when it's sitting still?Maybe the Waterpump is going?Are you losing any water?

remove top rad mounts and inspect front of radiator. Chances are it's full of all sorts of crud.

Compression test the cyls. my 91 ka blew a head gasket and it was blowing the compression fron cyl. 4 into the water so there wasnt the usual waster in the oil or vise versa but it ran hot just like yours is doing but thats the easist way to find out i think, you can rent a compression tester from autozone for free let me know how it goes

i say radiator because that what happen to my 240sx

so yeah send your radiator to get cleaned and try it out then!!!
