hey guys,

finally completed the gasket swap only to find that my car won't start.

I set the cams up with the marker matching how it looks in the FSM... so hopefuly i didn't mess up there. The car turns over but sounds really really chuggish and never actually starts.

I primed the engine quite a few times before i first tried to start and my first start i heard a few pops out my exhaust... nothing after that though

any ideas?

see i'm not sure how to check... the FSM has a real lack of detail about setting the timing.

the mating marks line up i'm pretty sure... the distributor is at the top, where i believe it should be.

also... is the 240 a "non-interference" engine?

my mechanic friend asked me this because he said by trying to start the car if the cams are off then i've #@!*ed up my valves.

hummn, from my reading im under the impression that the ka is an interference engine. the cam timing your on your own, and the ignition timing needs a timing light.
