Head gasket size

hi im rebuilding my ca with Arias 40tho pistons and stuff and i would like to know what size is the stock gasket.... and what would u put on.....i have o ring the block so i will use copper one im thining around 1.5mm.. i would like to get around 8.0:1

what u think..

std is 1.2mm, 2mm drops you to about 8:1 with stock pistons, so will be a bit more than 8:1 with 84mm pistons as bigger bore pistons raise the CR.

a 1.5mm gasket will probably be back to around 8.5:1

You could work it out if you could be bothered.

Low comp pistons is the way to go though, not a thicker HG.

ah k well i already have the pistons in the block and they are Arias forged 40tho over im not sure if they are low comp or not..

so go a 2mm u think... could u go anymore ?

I wouldn't go further that 2mm no, that would give roughly 8:1.the problem with running thicker than std thickness HG is that you reduce/remove the squish area, the squish helps to mix the charge as the piston rises on the compression stroke, removing it can lead to poor mix and det.That said that's quite theoretical, the CA does seem to cope pretty well with thicker HG's.

You should definately find out if your pistons are low comp or not first though. if they are std they will be flat topped (bar the valve reliefs) if they are low comp they will be dished.

well yea they are std then... so ill go with a 2mm..

will be getting GT28 420hp when its done should be able to cope with 20 with no det i hope..
