depends on you, it's nto hard, it is tedious and time consuming especially if you leave the mtor int he car and still have an EGR, and be sure you get the timing belt back on right!

Evildky is right is not hard just time consuming. Besides the timing belt also make sure you torque the heads in steps so you don't end up with a leak after you put it all back together.I was intimidated when i saw what i had to work with but once i got started i was not to bad. I thought it was going to be a basic head gasket job but i quickly learned i was wrong. Once you get the plenum off ( be patient don't get fustrated with it) you roll right through it. Be prepared to replace alot of connectors because they will break, hoses will need to be cut because they will be swollen and the clamps won't come off. Lots of bleeding knuckles, cramped joints and cursing. I say do it yourself if its not your daily. This is something that will not get done in a day. This will be a opportunity for you to learn the engine. If you let the mechanic do it they will regret it if they gave you a low quote on the work and will not want to see you or your z again after going through what they will go through. In the end you will be happy if you do it right. I know i am.
