Head gasket question

Im replacing the head gasket on my ka and i plan to go ka-t...what would you say is the best head gasket to use...cometic maybe??...i want a good strong gasket that doesnt require buying new studs

I currently use re-used stock headbolts and a cometic.. I used moly lube on them.. Works great so far..

You won't need a Cosmetic unless you wish to push higher numbers, there just is no point to it. You would also have to shave the head to have a surface perfectly flat within a hundreth of a millimeter. You would be fine with an oem head gasket from any local Nissan dealership, I just personally like Felpro, lol.

jack. Are any of the ports or internal lines s'posed to be covered by the HG? I have one that covered some and i have had a small leak in the back of my block since like the first day, but everything stays lubed.

It REALLY sounds like you might have messed up something then...among the Nico users using Felpro head gaskets, there really aren't any complaints. If you covered up and oil and coolant passages, it's CERTAIN you didnt install it properly.

I never resurfaced my head. All you really have to do is make sure it isn' warped, clean the surface really well, and spray it pretty good with a couple coats of copper spray. I wouldn't have used one, but I figured it couldn't hurt after pushing out one gasket and then lifting the head with ARPs..
