Hey I have 89 ka24e with a blown headgasket I have a fsm(not sure which one but it isn't very desriptive of what to do.i've been reading about ka24de headgaskets but I have an E. can someone give me a detailed description of what to do or show me a thread I may have missed?so far I only have the valve cover off, and the exhaust manifold unbolted.

pull the manifoldsset tdc on intake stroke (by lining up the cams)mark distributor and pull itpull t-coverpull chainpull rocker shaftsclean head boltsremove head bolts and headsome other stuff like draining fluids and removing water pump

You dont have to remove the timing cover to take the SOHC head off. And i didnt even get it to TDC when i did mine. As long as nothing moves, it all goes back the way it came off.

thats right i forgot the ka motors will do that. come to think of it you can do that with a ka24de too! i was thinking of the ga style. thanks for correcting me. whew, that means you dont have to pull the oil pan either!
