Ok here it is, my head gasket is blow on my 240. i have some options on what i can do.

1st - cheap fix of only the head gasket.2nd - rebuild motor/ slight preformance build.3rd - save up, and try and come up with the money to buy a SR.4th - traid in my car and get a new or slightly used car.5th - any idea you might have.

If i do the 2nd option of rebuilding, were can i get a rebuild kit? and what should i do with like compression, cam, and head work?and were are some sites where i can find the parts for this??

thanks for any input

Joe

Sorry, its a s13 90, so the KA24e. also if i do rebuild i am not looking for some 200+ HP NA motor, just like a nice 150-170 rwhp. I also live in Utah, so i can run pretty high compression on pump gas. I think the elivation is like 4500 ft, but i am not sure. I would like to keep it on the cheaper side if i do rebuild, so i dont think i would replace my rods, just new pistons, maybe shave my deck a little, port and polish the head, and get a new cam.

Daunttless, do you sell a rebuild kits?? I see you have a built KA24de for 3000, so it looks like you would know what is needed and where to get it. You should sell preformance rebuild kits, maybe 3 difrent stages of power. or if thats something your not looking to get into, maybe pass along some links to places i could find the parts i need. thanks

http://www.flatlanderracing.co....html

Part# MK-2032 - for ~$360.

Has straight rebuild kits, with options for overbored cyclinders. Not sure how viable an option that is on a KA though. Not much room left, I don't think.

Has a list of NISMO supplied stuff.

Think JWT offers cams as well... shrug.

I wouldn't go to that much trouble on a SOHC. If you can't afford an engine swap just go for the cheap fix.

whats wrong with the SOHC?? I think it would make a great turbo engine. Sure it might not produce as much as the DOHC, but parts are far cheaper for the SOHC then DOHC, and not everyone is looking for a 500hp engine, lot of us want 250-350HP engine and I believe the SOHC is very capiable of that.

Rebuild it if speed isn't too much of an issue. Put in some pistons, some mild street cams, do the minor bolt ons (Intake / Header / Exhaust), maybe a ECU, clutch, and and LSD, and i'd say 170-180rwhp and low 14s is a pretty good bet. All that would probably be cheaper (or near the same) as an SR, and it'd be just as fast. But keep in mind you'd pretty much be tapped out, and you couldn't turbo it on the high compression pistons.

Nick.

Granted you can't turbo a high compression engine. But you sure can squeeze on it.

http://www.realnissan.com Yea good ol' SOHC, theres a SOHC KA24E powered car on the site that runs 9.5 quarter mile. Check it out they sell good stuff for rebuilding if you have a SOHC that is. I wasn't paying attention :sleep
